Discovering the Dolomites on your bike
Mountain biking enthusiasts will find a number of cycling routes around Madonna di Campiglio on both tarmacked roads and off-road forest trails, including the Ritorto route, the Vallesinella route, the trail to the Bedole refuge in Val Genova or the trail to the Cornisello lakes.
The new lifts, which are also open in the summer, enable mountain bikers to take their bikes with them to the top.
This is also the perfect place for downhill mountain biking, an extreme sport that is experiencing a surge in popularity. Downhill mountain biking is a race against the clock as you descend on trails of varying difficulty levels and lengths ranging from 2 to 7 km. The Downhill Mountain Bike World Championships are even held in the nearby Val di Sole.
If you're up for the challenge and want to give it a try, head to Daolasa or Pinzolo.
